While the use of conventional compost blankets has proven to be an extremely effective erosion control BMP, their use has been somewhat limited on steep slopes. EarthMulch Bonded Compost Matrix (BCM) is a unique and highly effective hydraulically applied product designed to stabilize and reinforce traditional compost blankets, thereby enabling them to be used on steeper than normal slopes. EarthMulch BCM eliminates wildlife entanglement threats and aquatic habitat contamination risks associated with conventional synthetic fiber nets that are often used to reinforce compost blankets on steep slopes.

Built on the EarthMulch platform, the Bonded Fiber Matrix (BFM) formulation was bio-engineered to stabilize and re-vegetate severe slopes and environmentally sensitive sites. EarthMulch BFM contains no polyester, polypropylene, or other synthetic fibers. In addition, this BFM utilizes organic tackifiers, environmentally safe polymers, and a unique combination of recycled compost, recovered corn waste, and recycled paper fibers. EarthMulch BFM’s environmentally friendly formulation will not harm aquatic habitat or contaminate the ecosystem with synthetic fibers or toxic chemicals.
